About
Augustina Ullman believes that better public policy research drives better public policies. As such, she works as a researcher and administrator to develop research that aims to advance equity and access in our cities. In her current role at PPIC, she supports research administration and operations across PPIC’s largest department, managing research for policy areas such as Criminal Justice, K-12 Education, Safety Net, and Understanding California’s Future.

Policy Assistant
- Analyzed three (3) local measures for SPUR’s November 2022 voter guide: Oakland’s Measure Q, Measure U, and Measure V. Performed extensive stakeholder engagement and policy analysis to develop recommendations.
- Led coalition of eight (8) diverse partners for San Francisco’s Proposition D: Affordable Housing Initiative (2022).
- Published the article “Three Ways San Francisco, San José and Oakland Can Meet Their Housing Needs,” which analyzes the three (3) cities’ initial efforts to meet their Regional Housing Needs Allocation (RHNA).

Research Assistant
- Led analysis of affordable housing cost analysis for Los Angeles County using advanced Excel functions, such as pivot tables. Drafted findings for the 12-page section of the client report, including graphs, fact sheets, and tables.
- Created and managed the Excel database of the rental properties funded by California’s 425 former redevelopment agencies for the Partnership’s preservation database, as well as the 2022 State At-Risk Assessment report.
- Cleaned and analyzed CoStar data using Excel to update five (5) analyses for the interactive Housing Needs Dashboard assessing county, regional, and state affordable housing need, production, and unmet goals.

- Collected data for regional transit, active transportation, and greening projects across California to create an interactive mapping tool that explores whether climate investments inadvertently contribute to displacement.
